Shot Distance

Press the "Mark Shot" button on your iPhone 3G right after taking a shot. As you walk to your ball, the distance is displayed on the bottom of the screen.

Mapping a Golf Course

Use GreenFinder Golf GPS to map a golf course! Press the "Mark New Golf Course" button from the selection screen on your iPhone 3G. Stand at the front, center and back of every green and push the corresponding button. You can also mark hazards. As you map the golf course, GPS points are automatically uploaded to us. We'll review the mapping for accuracy and load it into our database for everyone to use (usually within 2 business days).

iPhone 3G Battery Life

To maximize iPhone 3G battery life, most users disable the auto-lock and manually lock the screen (using the power button on the top) when not needed. So, if you lock the screen after an approach shot, and unlock the screen when leaving the green, the GPS will be re-acquired by the time you get to the next tee.

The auto-lock feature disables the GPS when the screen is locked on your iPhone 3G. So, it can take up to 45 seconds to re-acquire the GPS signal after unlocking the screen. You can turn off auto-lock under the iPhone 3G Settings. But, be aware that keeping the screen on uses more battery power.
