1. How can I download GreenFinder Golf GPS?

You can buy GreenFinder Golf GPS in the iPhone 3G App Store. Just search for GreenFinder.

2. How much data does GreenFinder Golf GPS use?

Very little. An average golf course download uses approximately 12kb. This is equivalent to sending a few emails or visiting a web page on your iPhone 3G.

3. Why isn't my golf course available?

Our database contains over 10,000 golf courses and we're adding about 150 new golf courses each week. If you can't find the golf course you're interested in, email us a golf course request. You can also use GreenFinder Golf GPS to mark a golf course yourself. It's easy to do - see below.

4. Does GreenFinder Golf GPS only work in North America?

GreenFinder Golf GPS works wherever an iPhone 3G with a data plan works. Our current focus is North America. If you live elsewhere, feel free to request a golf course in your area, and we will do our best to get it marked. You can always use GreenFinder Golf GPS to mark the golf course yourself. It's easy to do - see below.

5. Can I mark my own golf course?

Yes, and it's easy to do. Choose "Mark New Course" from the menu. Enter the name of the golf course and the instructions will be displayed. At a minimum, mark the front, center and back of each green. Stand still for 5 seconds on the location you wish to mark and press the corresponding button (e.g. front, center, back). You can also mark hazards. GPS points are sent automatically to our system. After marking, we will review the data for accuracy and publish the golf course so all users can download it.

6. I've marked a golf course, why can't I find it?

Firstly, thanks for taking the time to mark a golf course. After receiving golf course data from our customers, we usually need a week to review, approve and promote the golf course before it becomes available to all our customers.

7. How do I mark a shot to show its distance?

Press the "Mark Shot" button at the bottom of the screen on your iPhone 3G to mark the start point of your shot. As you approach your ball, the distance from that mark will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.

8. Can I check my email or make a call while using GreenFinder Golf GPS?

Yes of course. Press the Home button to switch to the home screen on your iPhone 3G. Select the GreenFinder Golf GPS icon to continue where you left off.

9. I can't find a golf course I know you have marked.

When searching for a golf course, try using just part of the name. If you misspell the name of the city or state, the search will return no matches.

10. How accurate is GreenFinder Golf GPS?

The accuracy on the iPhone 3G is usually in the range of 1-7 yards.

11. Why does the distance sometimes change when I am standing still?

All GPS devices have a certain level of inaccuracy, due to the nature of GPS. Accuracy can be affected by atmospheric conditions, the number of visible GPS satellites, nearby buildings, etc. This inaccuracy is plus or minus from the true distance. What you are noticing is called drift - where the GPS receiver thinks it detects change due to these conditions.
